Mia (12) spends every summer at a lake in the black forest with her divorced parents and their respective partners. While the grownups struggle to maintain an air of ease, Mia frequently wanders off into the forest, where she meets a mysterious boy. Then, on the morning of her birthday, she is nowhere to be found. This turns the already fragile family construct upside down and Mia’s newly won freedom soon becomes a danger.
