Air Berlin and dba Flight Operations decided to review their B 737 operating
procedures following the entry of dba into the Air Berlin group. Driven by the
vision and task to harmonize the procedures between the two Boeing operators
the resulting work is based on JAR regulations, IOSA guidelines and the latest
Boeing procedural applications.
As you will see later on during the video the Flight Deck work is orientated at distributing
the workload between the two pilots on the Flight Deck evenly. This includes
ground operations where the split between the Pilot Flying and Pilot Monitoring
tasks is already evident.
Flight Deck areas of responsibilities are clearly laid down in line with Boeing
procedures and cover all phases of flight from entering the Flight Deck until securing
it after landing. The new procedures also significantly reduce the verbal communication
between both pilots. This however does not reduce the responsibility
to check and verify commands and actions.
Concentrating verbally on essentialitems reduces the risk of verbal
monotony while lowering the workload at the same time.
Checklist content is reduced eliminating non-essential items both on the ground
and in the air while distributing Pilot Flying and Pilot Monitoring tasks in a profound
way.
This video will show all details of the new Boeing 737 procedures assisting both
type rating and flight crew procedure conversion.
